LANY’s one-stop show this past Tuesday in the new theatre, The Bellwether, left fans with conflicted emotions. Don’t get me wrong, fans of all ages could not be happier with the superb performance put on by them, yet, the band’s departure to Australia left them longing for more. Are we surprised? No. For a few years now, LANY has developed a one-of-a-kind fan base. In today’s day and age, it is not so crazy to hear that fans begin lining up a few hours before the show starts. After all, it makes sense. Fans want to get up close and experience the concert in the best way possible. Don’t get me wrong, how early one stands in line for an artist/band does not determine how big of a fan you are. However, I think it is safe to say that waiting over 12 hours—14.5 hours to be exact—shows, let’s say, a bit more devotion.

After talking to some fans at the barricade, I found out that these fans had been waiting 14.5 hours in mid to high 90-degree temperatures to secure their spot at the barricade for LANY’s one-stop show in LA. Not only that, but these fans had flown all the way from Utah and were staying at an Airbnb. These were the same people that had gotten barricade at LANY’s sold-out show in Utah in front of 17,000+ people. I think it is safe to say that these are some devoted fans.

So, why is everyone so crazy about LANY? Well, where do I even start? LANY is an American pop band from Los Angeles. LANY consists of two members, Jason Klein and Jake Goss. Originally formed in Nashville back in 2014, LANY has had many hits throughout the years. Some hits include “Malibu Nights”, “Thru These Tears”, “13”, and much, much more. With their unique blend of dreamy synth-pop, heartfelt lyrics, and flawless production, LANY has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the music scene. Their remarkable talent spans a multitude of areas, securing their position as one of the most gifted bands of our time.
First and foremost, LANY's musical prowess is genuinely exceptional. With each note, they effortlessly weave together melodies that resonate deep within each listener. The band's ability to create a distinct soundscape, characterized by lush layers of synth, ethereal guitar riffs, and smooth beats, sets them apart from their peers. Their music possesses an alluring quality that transports listeners to a realm of introspection and nostalgia. Whether it's the upbeat anthems like "ILYSB" or the tender ballads like "Malibu Nights," LANY showcases their versatility by effortlessly crafting songs that strike a chord with their devoted fanbase and newcomers alike.
Beyond their musical genius, LANY possesses an unmatched talent for storytelling. Lyrically, their songs are filled with introspective musings, heartache, and raw emotion. The band's frontman, Paul Klein, has an uncanny ability to express complex emotions with poignant simplicity. His songwriting examines the intricacies of love, longing, and personal growth in a way that is relatable and cathartic for listeners. Whether it's the hauntingly beautiful "Good Girls" or the bittersweet "Thick and Thin," LANY's lyrical prowess resonates deeply, leaving a lasting impact.

Furthermore, LANY's live performances are a testament to their remarkable talent. From smaller intimate venues like the Bellwether to sold-out stadiums, the band's ability to command the stage is unparalleled. The seamless transition from studio recordings to vibrant live renditions is a testament to their musical expertise. With a charismatic stage presence, flawless harmonies, and mesmerizing visuals, they create an immersive experience that captivates audiences and leaves them craving more.

Moreover, LANY's success can also be attributed to their ability to constantly evolve and push boundaries within their genre. While staying true to their signature sound, the band fearlessly experiments with new styles, incorporating elements of R&B, electronic, and even country influences. This willingness to explore uncharted territory allows them to truly make their music music-for-all. As a matter of fact, in an effort of inclusiveness amongst the band and the fans, LANY’s team handed out lyrics to their upcoming song “XXL” so everyone could sing along. Even though it was the first time hearing the song for the majority of attendees (I wouldn’t be surprised if some fans knew the song by heart), in that theatre that night, it did not feel like that.

One aspect that sets LANY apart is their remarkable talent for creating an intimate and emotionally charged atmosphere within their concerts. From the moment the lights dim and the first chords reverberate through the venue, fans are swept up in a collective experience that transcends mere entertainment. LANY's music serves as a conduit for shared emotions, allowing fans to connect with their own feelings and experiences, and forming a bond between the band and their audience that is truly irreplaceable.

The ability of LANY to touch their fans during concerts can be attributed to the raw vulnerability that they bring to the stage. Lead vocalist Paul Klein's captivating voice, infused with a rich tapestry of emotions, effortlessly communicates the essence of their songs, allowing fans to feel every word on a visceral level. Whether singing about heartbreak, longing, or the complexities of love, Klein's sincerity resonates within the hearts of listeners, creating an emotional connection that lingers long after the final notes fade away. Moreover, LANY's dedication to delivering an unforgettable live experience is evident in the meticulous attention to detail that they pour into every aspect of their concerts. From the carefully curated setlist that spans their discography, touching on career-defining hits and hidden gems, to the mesmerizing stage production and visual aesthetics, LANY ensures that every element aligns to enhance the emotional journey for their fans. The result is an all-encompassing concert experience that leaves attendees feeling heard, understood and uplifted.

That being said, the fans know you have commitments to make outside of the U.S. so rather than “LANY come back” like some fans were saying, LANY, don’t be gone for too long!
